My name is Mateo Guc Ical and I was born in Las Conchas in 1976. I have lived most of my life here in the rainforest where my father taught me to work, to live, and to respect nature and people. My wife and I have five children. I speak Kekchi and Spanish. I began working at Oasis in 2004 and I enjoy coming to work everyday; there is a beautiful river, I like my companions, I am close to my home and community, and my friends and family can visit here . I like having different jobs: walking with tourists in the mountains and teaching them about the surroundings, planting in the field, constructing many things, cleaning and helping in whatever. Many people tell that Oasis is the best and I always say "Yes, here is the best!"

Hello, I am Miho from Nagoya, Japan. I have been in Las Conchas and Guatemala since 2006 and I am learning so many new things all the time. Living so closely to nature is both challenging and beautiful. I can appreciate modern conveniences having lived without them.
