Back in 2001, as a traveler in Guatemala I was hitchhiking - my plan being to walk one or two weeks in the mountains searching for a route to Semuc Champey. What I discovered was Las Conchas and the most authentic Mayan adventure imaginable.

Three years later, I realized my dream of creating Tierra Madre Nature Tours and began guiding camping trips to the waterfall. That same year, I purchased a beautiful land and Oasis Chiyu was born. Today, we invite you to join us in creating a more sustainable and caring community in Las Conchas.

My education began at the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia, PA, where I learned Quaker values for nine years, later graduating from Abington High School ('90). In 1995, I received a B.S. in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I have worked since the age of 15 in hospitality, food and beverage, and began working in tourism for Vail Associates back in 1991 and have since worked from Alaska to Guatemala. I have travelled the world and visited more than 50 countries in 4 continents ('95 - present).

My true love is working outdoors in nature and sharing the oasis, we are really looking forward to meeting you soon. Visit my family and I today and enjoy the ride on Mother Earth.
